On Sunday evening, so aggrieved was I by my pathetic state of health (congestion, palpitation and fever) and so phased out was I by the medication being pumped into me, not to mention the previous night's insomnia, that I rambled away and wrote this completely ridiculous email to my dearest friends - informing them that I am dying and how certain people couldn't care if I die a dog's death, so wrapped up are they in their petty issues! I also vaguely remember leaving similarly asinine comment(s) on others' blog(s) - *rolling my eyes and flushing in embarassment*
Of the friends who rushed to reply promptly was new addition to the 'inner circle' - Titash...I reproduce un-edited his email:-
"Incase you are dead, I hope you are checking your mail from the world beyond life. Being an atheist I cannot subscribe to the heaven-hell theory, but I do strongly cling to the hope that we transform into beings intelligent enough to be able to check emails and live in environments friendly enough to give us free internet access.
"The world beyond life" is perhaps the most politically correct way that an atheist can put it. Come to think of it, an atheist's definition of heaven would be where they gave you sleek laptops with wi-fi internet that was free too. Hell would be a old celeron dabba with a dialup connection where you were charged by the hour for both the net and the phone calls :D
That makes me think, the way you are, the first thing you would do, irrespective of whether you landed in heaven or hell would be to go blog and bitch/praise ur new life. and then there wuld be precisely 12 comments.
9 from your regular bloggers who would go gaga about "gurl you are having soo much fun up there...ooo...you wrote so nicely...aww wat a pity, what a shame you landed up there.....blah blah blah" or some such equally noncomittal nonsensical comment.
1 from Kunu Baba saying that he really misses you and that it was a nice post and gave good idea of how things were with you. 1 more anon from me. 1 anon from mon amour...or rather your amour. (These last two comments you think up cos now I am hungry and planning to end this crap I am writing :P ) "
Such is the concern expressed by those I value the most on pronouncement of my impending death!!!

Hmm, you could share some valuable insights into the dances of the apsaras with us. How do they compare with Ash? Is the music inspired frmo someone? Are there taxes? Are there cows on the roads? It wouldn't be bad to have a good blogger up there :-)

hey geets , hope you are feelin much better now.prends soin de toi
LOL! Seems a shame to change the perfectly predicted number [though not content] of the comments so far, but I'm sure twelve is a much nicer, rounder number, with or without the anons, one of which I first thought of writing, but then later changed my mind, as you see.
Any ideas where one can get cds of movies by Tennessee Williams. Have fallen in love with Night of the Iguana...
Hey you get well soon, and wish me the same I almost died of what I think was cholera...too bad I'm not in your 'inner circle' I would have enjoyed something morbid.
I hope there's lots of solid spicy food in Atheist Forever-Land. I think I'll be shifting there one of these days...
just thought i'll aid the prediction ... one short of 12!
"The world is not a conclusion; a sequel stands beyond, invisible, as music, but positive, as sound."
said Emily Dickinson (Yeah! The same person who said because she couldnt stop for death,Death stopped by her and took her in a carriage.)
Hope you like the music and makes you feel better.
Since you did not SMS or Email or comment me about your death... i don't CARE.
*SULK*

Rahul - Those who don't reply to my sms, don't get included on the mailing list ;-) Muhaha
CloseTalk - Hehe. Message conveyed to Titash and he seemed suitably disconcerted! ;-) and hey I never said it's IMPOSSIBLE to groove to that number, just that I can't...would love to see you groove to it though;-)
Gulnaz - Yes he is, in his sweet, docile way! ;-) (he's gonna kill me for this!) Hey I just complain I'm dying - am not a pain in the neck! LOL!
Parth - LOL!
Kitana - Hey isnt getting a sms better than getting an email? And hey, I get VH1 down here, so heaven better be one step better - personal contact with them groovy musicians! As for cutie, Titash, honey he's already booked! Dontcha know, all the good guys are either booked, or gay - or else super-shy of commitment, which makes them trifle more irritating than they already are as a species! LOL!
August & Aparna - Thanks - am much much better now...specially now that I have my computer back! :-)
Amit - Birds of a feather flock together. Great minds think alike - need I say more? ;-)
Non-Sensei - Welcome to the blog :-) it's not just that one quote that is interesting here!
Prachi - Oh dunno abt where in Bbay, you could always try ordering from Amazon or something na? Btw cholera? You serious? Didn't they eradicate it?
Heheh - like your idea of heaven - we all seem to have our demande for after-life, dont we?
Zafar - Thanks and welcome to the blog!
