Aristera Baba said he’s changed so much in the past couple of years – I agree, but then I think he’s changed so much since the time I first him! :-) His statement made me think about me and how much I’ve changed in the last few years. They say change is the only thing constant in life – and looking back over the last five years I couldn’t agree more. If someone were to ask me to recapitulate the last five years in a sentence (something very difficult for a person like me – you can ask Aris Baba and he’ll confirm how it’s almost impossible for me to stick to short-n-sweet in my descriptions of anything and anyone)…I’d say it’s been the most rocking phase in my life. Rocking, not in the happy, hep-n-happening sense of the term, but in the sense that my life has taken so many unexpected twists and turns and been rocked from it’s roots so many times, that no other word but ‘rocking’ could best describe it.
Taking the example of my internet habits, I’ve gone from being –
- Someone who’s life depended on her internet connection, having so many loved ones abroad, to someone who knows that the internet is but a medium to keep the illusion of the relationship alive.
- Someone who checked her emails twice, sometimes thrice a day to someone who checks her emails twice a week, if lucky, thrice!
- Someone who blogged daily, to someone who blogs once a week and thinks that’s regular!
Superficial yes, but there are so many small changes that have gone into making me who I am today – and the changes just continue to happen each day, whether in small or big ways. I wonder where I will be five years from today – and though I pray that I don’t have to see any more radical changes I know inside that so much more still lies around the corner.
Sigh – guess I should take those vitamins regularly if I must emerge the survivor eh?

Dear Geetanjali,
You are right. Change is inevitable, change is painful, but more often than not change is good. Have you heard the beautiful song "Turn turn turn" by The Byrds? It was also in the Forest Gump OST:
{To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn,turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven}
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep
{Ch}
A time2 build up,a time2 break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones,
a time to gather stones together
{Ch}
A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing
{Ch}
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late.
