The Little Joys..

I met G yesterday - after nearly a year and a half. An ex-student, she is from my very first batch at AFP (a weekend batch) I remember focusing on her face through out the first class because it was so reassuring and calmed those butterflies in my stomach and made my legs stop trembling in the salwar. I was the youngest person in the room. Ironically, it was with that batch that I never needed to assert my authority as a teacher. Unlike J and S who have become friends, G and I don't stay in contact that regularly, making each message /email / phone call so much more special. It was such a huge pleasure to see her yesterday and it totally made my day. It's the little joys like this that reaffirm my tenacious hold on this job...

THE ANT
The ant has made himself illustrious
Through constant industry industrious.
So what?
Would you be calm and placid
If you were full of formic acid?

Idlemind, that is so cute :-) The other day, there was a whopping discoount on Ogden Nash's collection of poems. Wonder why I did not buy it....

You know G, you are the first ever teacher of mine who has become a friend. Tis a nice feeling :-)

Jo - And you are one of the rare students who has become such a dear friend! :-)
I'm dead sure the Ogden Nash collection must have been at the Landmark sale which seems to be great everywhere but for Pune! Grumpf!

Very relevant to what you teach in Alter Ego. thought it was similar technique to what you used.
