Mr.Ginger Schnapps

Schnapps has always been a source of amusement and wonder for all of us at home - whether it was his tiny size when he came to us as a puppy, his crawling around the house like a lil mouse, his fondness for carrots, cucumbers, capsicum etc....tout tout tout tout tout!!! Recently he has developed some new habits - he can't stand people shaking hands with the women of the house. The first time he exhibited this chauvinistic pattern of behaviour was when Hardo had come home for the first time - the minute he shook hands with Amma, Schnapps was jumping in between, barking angrily at Hardo! Next time was when Kunaal shook hands with me...and when I sat down next to Kunaal, Schnapps just kept barking at poor Kunu till I moved away! Guess all men are the same at the crux of it, eh? LOL!!!

Even more amusing is his possessiveness of my brother - he actually sits at the bathroom threshold while my brother is inside...with this sad, neglected "mere piya mujhe chod kar chale gaye" look on his face!! But nothing beats his reactions to when Bhaiyya-Bhabhi are talking...he goes and plants himself in between and promptly starts distracting Bhaiyya or tries to climb onto Bhaiyya's chest! A few days back Bhaiyya put his arm around Bhabhi while talking to her - and dear Mr Schnapps couldn't take that...he didn't stop barking till Bhaiyya moved away from Bhabhi - now whether that was possessiveness towards Bhaiyya or chauvinistic protectiveness towards Bhabhi, I leave you to figure out!

His recent favourite meals - roti with tomatoes and carrots (cucumbers have been retired for the time being) and in fruits it's oranges - when oranges are being peeled, he even leaves his position by Bhaiyya to come sniffing and then starts his jumping 2 feet in the air routine till we give him what he wants!! Total darling, isn't he?
