Well ideally speaking, it's loads of pasta (which I did have today) in creamy sauce, salads, cheese cake and chocolates, all washed down with some excellent wine. ;-) But for now it's music and books that are acting as awesome substitutes.
Swinging my hips, shaking my leg and grooving to the beats of -
Hung up (Madonna), Spun (Flipsyde), Someday (Flipsyde), My Humps (Black-Eyed Peas), We Be Burning (Sean Paul), La Torutura (Shakira), I Don't Care (Ricky Martin) and more...all thanks to World Space Radio :-)
I still haven't figured out on what channel and what time the classics are aired. There is Orbit Rock, but then they only air Classic Rock. Ah well, till I figure out, Vh1 fulfills my appetite for Retro music. Today's quota included Dressed for Success (Roxette), Addicted to Love (Robert Palmer), Crazy for You (Madonna), Father Figure (George Michael)....
Devouring my book on mythology. The more I read, the more I realise how less I know and how much I still have to learn. Why didn't I realise this earlier? Like maybe when I was in college, or even better way back in school? For now, I must placate myself with the adage Der Sahi, Andher Nahin.
Did you know how the Egyptian custom of embalming the dead came into being? It started off with Osiris - Pantheon has a small write-up. Not very satisfactory but it does shed some light on the origins of the custom. Wikipedia has a little more to offer...but then it is Wikipedia after all!

soulfood is dark chocolate. comfort food is sweet corn chicken. funny how that works. I love La Tortura and Hung Up.
Good music!! In HK sadly, even the 'english' radio channels play mostly cantonese music. Damn them! I miss Singapore :(
Do keep giving us bits and pieces of wisdom from what you read... and next time instead of going to Wikipedia, I can stop by GeeBaby :)
'Hung up' IS fantastic, .. even though it kinda rips of ABBA.
yaar tussi life ko kaise jeena hai jaante ho!!!!!!
ricky looks funny. cant stand the video but when i am groovin when i hear it on the radio.funny how some songs sound good on radio but not on television.
tried learning tortura and i can proudly claim that i can hum bits n parts of the song.alezandro sanz is a dude( did i get his name right????????)

whats wit world space radio, tv main ad dekha tha but i dont get it here.i tried tunning my radio.
p.s- here comes the word identification s**t
BGFS - :-)
Casablanca - LOL! No no I don't wanna pit myself against Wikipedia!
Aristera - Hey no fair....you go and have soul food without me, don't you? Am I not allowed my share of comfort in food? Besides it's not like I actually had all of it. As I said 'ideally'...and I definitely don't live in an ideal world. That fact is clear....
Aparna - Hehe...well I did say 'ideally' na? As for world space, darling you don't get it on regular radio. It's a paid service - so you have to buy the unit and subscribe to the channels. There are some 30 plus channels, including regional, news and lots of music channels. And ofcourse RFI!!! :-) It's totally worth it!
PS I also have to undergo word verification, even though it's my own blog! Karna padta hai yaar...samjha karo ;-)
LivingHigh - Sorry missed you the first time. Yeah I know, the first time I heard the first strains of the song I thought "Oh ABBA rip-off" but then it moves beyond that to a totally awesome true-blue Madonna style number! Strike the pose...
I am sure you already have this music - but in case you don't - you MUST get music by Nickel Creek (Blue Grass) and Norah Jones (Jazz). I am sure you already have Norah Jones. I have a feeling you will LOVE Nickel Creek - I get that feeling by reading your posts.
Embalming, forsooth. I far prefer the modern way of making mummies....;)
...and you've made me realise that I too have been long neglecting a promise to myself to read mytho. One day I'll get round to reading up the works. Greek, roman, scandinavian, celtic, even native American. Come hell or Hia-watha....
soul food for me would be the darkest, most sinister chocolate with a bottle of bordeaux superieur n some great music :-)
well n ofcourse some1 to share all this with.
ps...my blogs finally up...yaaaaay!!!! chek it out in a day or two...will hav stuff up by then...thas if i aint too dead from rehearsals!!! which reminds me...did u find out the name i asked for???
Soul food..ahhh I honestly couldn't live without books, there was a phase in my life for whatever reasons, I didn't read..and it was like a light had gone out of my life..dramatic(?) but nonetheless true!
:))
P.S: Tiramisu does the trick too ;)
PS....s'il te plait...pourrais-tu faire un peu de publicite pour mon blog???? :-) merci
Adagio for Strings - And I've not heard the music you mention! Do we inhabit the same world? ;-)
... - I must confess that I do not own a CD of Norah Jones though I have heard her and like her music immensely...the other two names you mentioned are new to me...shall check them out at the 1st available opportunity!
Lakesidey - You know you can start by reading the articles on Pantheon. They are quite good! I started quite late myself, but the book I have is such a wonder it's become a passion now! :-)
Kitana - Yayyy! Bienvenue au monde de bloggers! Je vais faire de pub pour toi - tu n'as pas besoin de dire ca ma chere! Soul food sounded divine!
Pincushion - Oh yes books offer the best solace ever...as for Tiramisu? I believe 'ananda' would best define the experience :-)
